Characteristics and process of the stamping process

The stamping process is a metal processing method built on the basis of metal plastic deformation and the use of molds and stamping equipment to apply pressure to the plate material so that the plate material produces plastic deformation or separation so as to obtain a certain shape, size, and performance of the parts (stamping parts).

The stamp forming process occupies an important position in the automobile body manufacturing process, especially the large car body, because most of the complex shapes, structure sizes, some surface areas, and surface quality requirements are high. The stamping processing method to make these parts is therefore incomparable with other processing methods. The cab of the truck, front sheet metal parts, cargo box plates, all kinds of car body covers, and various skeletons of passenger cars are almost all made with the stamping processing method.

Process characteristics

1.Stamping is a processing method with high production efficiency and low material consumption. The stamping process is suitable for the production of large quantities of parts and products, is easy to mechanize and automate, and has high production efficiency. At the same time, stamping production can not only strive to achieve less waste and no waste production, and even in some cases, leftover materials can also be fully utilized.

2.The operation process is convenient and does not require the operator to have a higher level of skills.

3.Stamping parts generally do not need to be machined with high dimensional accuracy.

4.The stamping parts have good interchangeability. Good stamping processing stability requires the same batch of stamping parts. It can be exchanged without affecting the assembly or product performance.

5.Because the stamping parts are made of materials, their surface quality is good, which provides convenient conditions for subsequent surface treatment processes (such as electroplating and spray painting).

6.Stamping processing can obtain high strength, high stiffness, and light-weight parts.

7.The cost of the stamping parts mass-produced with the die is low.

8.Stamping can produce complex-shaped parts that are difficult to process by other metal processing methods.

The stamping process

The stamping process can be divided into four basic processes:

Cutting: to achieve the separation of the plate material stamping process (including punching, cutting, trimming, cutting, etc.).

Bending: the stamping process of bending the plate material into a certain angle and shape.

Depth: stamping the plane plate material into various open hollow parts, or the further change of the shape and size of the hollow parts.

Fine flushing: flush products with high precision, for products with high size and surface light belt requirements, through the fine punching mold to meet the requirements of the drawing process.

Local forming: the stamping process of changing the shape of the blank or stamping parts with the local deformation of different properties (including turning, swelling, calibration, and shaping processes, etc.)
